Baroque Ecstasy - Critique by Francesco Gallo Mazzeo

by Sylvie Renault | 6 Mar 2014 | Reviewes, Home

Baroque Ecstasy Porf. Francesco Gallo Mazzeo The concentration of the sign, the apotheosis of color in a captivating blend, for sight, for touch, all aimed at chasing each other in a grand golden archipelago that forms the backdrop to a grand dance, to an exaltation of chromatisms, gentle, caressing, as can occur in a mental search for oneself, in the body of another, with a melody that softens in raptured contemplation. The background changes, like the hours of light and the suggestion of shadow, capturing a spiritual connection of the gaze, almost a relentless journey, like a grand prayer that unfolds in all directions. An ecstasy, therefore a mystical and sensual rapture that crosses the invisible body of thought from side to side, like a phantom taking on the appearance of a large grid, which binds the horizon and at the same time frees it, like a baroque modernity that is turned towards an elsewhere of the invisible, without breaking ties with its own history, which is that of concentration and meditation, even if everything around is noise, chaos, redundancy, loss of identity! It is precisely this elsewhere that comes together here, with wise adherence to strict rules of pictorial construction and at the same time a hymn to freedom and joy. Abstraction, certainly! Decoration, certainly! But in the sense of hospitality, quotations, blending, which is the highest sense of timelessness and the charm of each of us in this enigma, which we cannot and do not want to do without.

Sylvie Renault “Imperfect circles” Press Release

by Sylvie Renault | 1 Oct 2013 | News

Sylvie Renault “Imperfect circles” From October 6 to 20, 2013 Opening Sunday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m., at Ecos Gallery (Via Giulia, 81/A), Sylvie Renault will exhibit a selection of her paintings in an exhibition entitled “Imperfect Circles”. In her work, previously presented in New York, the artist has explored the concept of perfection in imperfection and distills an investigation of the concentric mark, which she emphasizes with layers of color, filling the voids and giving them new form. An undertaking that, from an intellectual standpoint, recalls the process of seeking the “familiar in the unfamiliar” so dear to David Lynch in his celebrated films. «With a powerful visual and, above all, emotional impact, - writes Maria Rosaria Fantin in her critical essay - these images, veritable apparitions, supported by vibrant, rich colors, prompt introspection, a search for the self. Drawn into the filled spaces and the voids, our gaze slips, losing itself in the countless transformations: folds of the soul, shifting changes of being.» «Falling in love with my circles – writes the artist Sylvie Renault - will make you fall in love with yourselves/Because I tell everyone's story./All of us, perfectly imperfect.» On the occasion of the opening of Sylvie Renault’s “Imperfect Circles”, Ecos Gallery, in collaboration with Officine Domus, presents “Scusi…ma qui che c’era prima?”, a song-theatre performance written and performed by Emiliano Ottaviani. Accompanied by Simone Salerni on bassoon, the Roman singer-actor takes the contrast between past and present as his starting point to recount, “in his own words and songs”, the affectations and vices of our times. Imperfect Circles at Ecos Gallery Rome from 06/10/2013 to 30/10/2013

IMPERFECT CIRCLES by Sylvie Renault from 6 to 30 October www.imperfectcircles.com Ecos Gallery presents Imperfect Circles by Sylvie Renault Sylvie Renault is a concept designer who alternates her work as an art director and designer with painting, as a complement to her research and experimental performance practice. After exhibitions in Olbia, Naples and New York, the works from the Imperfect Circles project land once again in Rome, where the artist explores the perfection of imperfection: like magnifying glasses, reflections of the soul, imperfect spaces that allow us to rediscover lost days or project ourselves into a future still entirely to be built. An obsessive filling of space with graphic marks across the entire surface, an evocative montage of unstoppable mechanisms, both mental and physical. The result overwhelms the viewer through the explosive energy of the colours and the vibrancy of the concentric mark. When I fell in love with Alessandro...

by Sylvie Renault | 22 Sept 2013 | Me, Theories

... when I fell in love with Alessandro and painted my most "majestic" work for him :) (Rent), I thought that if I could have him, I, who painted only my passions, would soon stop painting. Then I had a son with only one kidney and half a heart, and I realized that life never stops giving you inspiration.
