When I fell in love with Alessandro...

by Sylvie Renault | 22 Sept 2013 | Me, Theories

... when I fell in love with Alessandro and painted my most "majestic" work for him :) (Rent), I thought that if I could have him, I, who painted only my passions, would soon stop painting. Then I had a son with only one kidney and half a heart, and I realized that life never stops giving you inspiration.

On the journey of life.

On the journey of life.

“You have to lose something you care about,” came the words, “to finally be able to rise again within yourself.” “Let go of who you are and return to who you were, free of structures and conditioning. Return just as you are, exactly as I am creating you now. One day this will be your most beautiful journey.” And little by little, wrapped in her nest, she faded away as she watched herself being reborn. Indeed, no one found any ashes. Is it the mother who brings forth the child from her remains, or the child who brings itself forth from the mother who is leaving it? The same factors, the same equation. Natural separation. First birth, then growth, finally passing away. Death or genesis? End or beginning? The same pain. An identical rebirth. On the journey of life. Sylvie Renault

My field, no theory.

"...It is a commonplace belief that we see with our eyes. Undoubtedly, eyes are indispensable for seeing; yet we notice that many people, sometimes the majority, who have excellent eyesight nonetheless see little, in the sense that they do not see what they are looking at. Misled by prejudices or commonplaces, or simply not taught to see, they fail to grasp the formal essence and the resulting meaning of what they see. But then we do not see with our eyes alone, or rather, eyes alone are not enough to see. One might say that the eye-brain pairing is fundamental to seeing, yet even this is not entirely true. There are people who have good eyesight and keen intelligence, yet they do not see forms, do not understand their origins, much less the world of meanings they convey. What allows us to see deeply into forms is – visual perception-. Perception is the awareness we gain of the external world through observation and knowledge of the objects and things that make up the environment and have stimulated our senses of sight, hearing and touch, as well as smell and taste. But above all, seeing the surrounding world and the objects that make it up means developing a critical awareness of the reasons behind the forms we see, asking why things are as they are, why certain things are made this way and not that way, why certain events happen in that way and not another, and assessing whether that way is indeed the right one, and, if it is not the right one, what the right one would be… …Looking is a natural gift we all possess. Animals look too, but they do not always see deeply unless helped by instinct. Seeing, on the other hand, involves education, training, a truly long apprenticeship akin to that undertaken by a piano student at a music conservatory, who practices solfège and musical scales at length…” Attilio Marcolli - "Field Theory"

Castaneda - The Teachings of Don Juan

by Sylvie Renault | 6 Sept 2010 | Me, Theories

For me there is only travelling along paths that have a heart, any path that has a heart. Along those I travel, and the only test that matters is to traverse their entire length. And along those I travel looking, looking, breathlessly. For me there is only the journey along paths that have a heart, any path that has a heart. There I travel, and the only challenge worth taking is to traverse the path in its entire length. There I travel looking, looking, breathlessly.
