It ends here, what harm does someone leaving do – Living without you – Last step

Every painting has its own story.
And lately I've enjoyed telling it.

Living without you is about separation and the rebirth that follows.

The natural separation of life, like that between a mother and a daughter,  which happens first through growing up and then through death.
Equal factors in the same equation.
Is it the mother who gives birth to the daughter from her remains, or the daughter who gives birth to herself from the mother who is leaving her?
Death or childbirth?
End or beginning?
Equal pain.
The same rebirth.

Last year, three wonderful women close to my heart experienced this natural yet agonizing transformation firsthand.

Michela, Chiara and Chiara.

And I accompanied them on this journey as much as I could.
And it is to them that I want to dedicate this painting.
And to their three wonderful mothers.
In particular to Annagrazia, who introduced me, when I was just 16, to the song that inspired this painting, "Living without you", by George Winston, alternating with a fantastic Caterina Caselli, with "Insieme a te non ci sto più".

I recommend looking at its shimmering brushstrokes while listening to this music.
